"This stunning drone footage films Llanddwyn Island, which is home to the Santes Dwynwen legend."

Santes Dwynwen Day celebrates the Welsh patron saint of lovers on January 25th. Dwynwen translated means 'she who leads a blessed life' and is a popular day celebrated across Wales, and in particular Anglesey.

Dwynwen lived during the fifth century and according to legend, she was the prettiest of Brychan Brycheiniog's 24 daughters. She fell in love with a prince called Maelon Dafodrill but her father had already arranged for her to marry someone else. Upset she could not marry her prince, Dwynwen begged God to make her forget him before falling asleep. An angel visited Dwynwen in her sleep and gave her a potion to erase her memory of Maelon and turn him into a block of ice.

With her dreams coming true, Dwynwen devoted her life to God and set up a convent on the island of Llanddwyn, off the coast of Anglesey. The remains can still be seen on the island as can Dwynwen's well. It is believed that the well is home to sacred fish which can predict whether couple's relationships will succeed - if the fish are active when visiting the well, it is a sign of a faithful husband.

This drone footage shows the remains of the convent and well from above. The drone footage was filmed by @offthegroundtv Aerial Imaging. Off The Ground is a Menai Bridge based company set up in July by business partners Adam Richards and Gareth Lynch."
